Jake laughed at Bro's attempt at protecting itself. "Truthfully, I knew you were going to try something like that," he noted, "Which is why I used a weaker attack to start off with," Jake narrowed his eyes, "The more a pokemon uses protect, the less likely it will work, and the weaker it becomes,"
Jax watched as his opponent's hand turned white with a coming ice punch. He narrowed his red eyes and jumped into the air, above Bro right as it struck the ground. "Umbreon,"
the dark-type cried as it aimed a dark pulse attack from above, waiting until it was close enough to get past any protective shield Bro could make before opening it's mouth to give Bro a taste of it's power. Umbreon landed gently behind the larger pokemon, sliding back towards Jake on the now-icy ground. "Use the ice to your advantage, and strike Bro with another quick attack," Jake sent the message through their mind connection, not sure if he wanted J or Bro to know what he was planning. Jake watched as Jax approached Bro, taking a running leap before sliding at a blindingly high speed towards the other pokemon, ready to tackle it with the weight of its entire body. the ice field was a nice touch to the battle ground as the field was glistening in the afternoon sun. things were going just as j and bro planned if this kept up then the two were sure to win the battle. bro smirked but only for a few moments as umbreon had jumped in the air while the two were examining a battlefield. it managed to release a dark beam that hit slowbro right on.
j moaned as the damage was also dealt to him and quickly got up from the floor. things turned for the worse after j felt that pain that bro had received and began to think about if battling was the right choice. "is that all you got jakob, ill show you what were made of." shouted j. the attack managed to crush some of the battle field into small chunks of ice, which gave j an idea.
"i got it j, let me handle the rest." thought bro as he opened up his mouth and let out a deep and loud yawn. suddenly a bubble formed within his mouth and was released as it made his way towards the umbreon who was approaching him at blinding speed thanks to the ice.[/blockquote]

"is that all you got jakob, ill show you what were made of." Jake heard J shout, though the other boy had just gotten up the pain of Bro being hit by a dark pulse attack. Jake had to admit, it was a miracle the slowbro was still standing after that.
It was faster than Jake expected, Bro yawned and let out a bubble that began floating towards Jax. Jake panicked, it was a yawn attack that would put his pokemon to sleep shortly after it hit. And if Umbreon fell asleep, Jake would too. Jake cringed when the bubble hit Jax right as the dark-type crashed into Bro. "Shit," Jake mumbled, wracking his brain for a way to get out of such a sticky situation. He sighed, and spread his arms wide, "Jax aim a hidden power attack at me," he shouted, watching as the Umbreon wobbled as it stood up, clearly stunned and getting tired, "Umbreon?" Jake knew Jax wasn't sold on the idea, but it had to work.
"The pain will keep you from going to sleep, bud, just do it," Jake shut his eyes as his Umbreon nodded. The dark-type opened it's mouth and fired a harsh attack at it's owner. The blast hit Jake in the stomach, and he cringed, but refused to fall down.
"G-good job, Jax," he slurred, still in shock. Jax, on the other hand, seemed to be fully awake and fine, it's special defense stat far too high to do too much damage, "Finish it off with another dark pulse," Jake wrapped his arm around his chest, it still stung after the hit, but there was no way Jake would ever admit that to the other trainer. He was going to win this, no matter how much it hurt him to do so.

finally the chance that j and bro had was successfully put into action and couldn't have gone any better. j felt a small bit of pain from the previous dark pulse but was still ready to continue fighting. the yawn made direct contact with the umbreon which had slammed into bro pushing him back slightly. this made j hop back since the damage transfer, if this kept up then j could get hurt for real. but he didn't want to tell jakob that, the two were having such a good time.
umbreon and jakob appeared to be doing their best to resist the sleep, until the dark type released an attack and aimed it towards his trainer. shocked j couldn't believe what he was seeing, seemed like jakob might have been too caught up in the battle that he would win at any cost, even if it mean't hurting himself on purpose. a small tear could be seen rolling down bro and j's face but they quickly wiped it away.
their opponents were able to resist the sleep and continued fighting back with another dark pulse, but j gripped his arm tight. he didn't want to fight anymore, even though it was small pain that would be inflicted it didn't matter anymore. pain was pain. he didn't want anyone to get hurt so bro used psychic to gather up the ice rock around the area and block the beam.
"alright i think thats enough for today. i give!" [/blockquote]

Jake watched as Bro used psychic to block Jax's dark pulse attack. Jake had to admit, it was a pretty impressive use of a move that wouldn't affect the Umbreon.
"alright i think thats enough for today. i give!"
Jake stared at the other boy, his mouth ever so slightly agape. Really? Was he that much of a wuss? The blast Jake dealt to himself was merely a small sting, it didn't even hurt that much, and he'd done it a hundred or so times before.
"You're weak, J," Jake commented, not exactly in an offensive tone, but a mere nonchalant one. "But I guess you didn't grow up on the streets," he shook his head. Back where he grew up, you'd be called a wuss if you couldn't fight your opponent; your friends would turn their back on you if you even thought about forfeiting a battle. Jake had ended up in the emergency room more times than he could count for tough pokemon battles, but it was nothing. He always got up and continued as if nothing happened.
J, on the other hand, seemed to never have lived Jake's life. He didn't know the first thing about how street kids battled. His life was probably full of ease. Back where Jake grew up, you battled for food, and even a place to sleep.
Jake didn't mind the pain. Proving he was strong was everything to him, even in the most unorthodox of battles. Even against people like J who didn't want to hurt anyone. Jake didn't care. Apparently their battle styles were a bit off.
Beside Jake, Jax shook himself off, stunned that J would end the battle just because it seemed they were hurt. Jax barred it's teeth at the other boy's pokemon, still in the mood for battle, but that, apparently, wasn't happening.
Jake relaxed and sat down, "So, what next?"
