PERSONALITY:

Jakob Raven is the type of guy who makes being an orphan look easy. He’s a tough kid who always seems to look like he’s just been in a street fight or something. He’s a bit rough around the edges, and not the most mannered kid, but that’s expected when your parents up and leave to go to the Industrial City one night with only a note left behind telling you to stay put, they’ll return for you when life is better. After being all but dumped on the streets by his parents at a young age, Jakob knows how to live without help. He’s used to being independent and always says he doesn’t need anybody to help him.

He couldn’t be more wrong, however. Jakob is known for making excuses, lying to himself to pretend everything is alright when, quite obviously, it isn’t. Jakob is really close with his companion pokemon, even more so than most humans, since Jax is the only one he can rely on in tough times. Though he’s used to being by himself, there is no doubt that he’d be completely helpless without his companion.

Jakob always pulls the tough-guy act, pretending that he’s totally fine when he’s aching for someone to just look at him or acknowledge him for even just a second. Although his life seems so nice and easy,— No parents? Awesome!—when he goes around town doing whatever he pleases, it’s not nearly as fun as one might expect. Although Jakob always seems happy, he can’t even keep a count of how many times he’s cried himself to sleep since his parents left. But he’d die before telling that to anybody.

If there’s one thing Jakob can’t stand, it’s showing his weaknesses to other people; he certainly sees no problem in lying to people about how he’s feeling on the inside. Speaking of lying, Jakob is a master at telling lies, whether to get out of trouble (which he’s constantly finding himself getting into), keeping people from knowing the true ‘him’, or just for fun, Jakob is a master at manipulating people by lying to them. Perhaps he’s just had too much practice, or maybe he was just born with the ability, either way, he’s fantastic at it. Whether that’s a good thing or not is a completely different story.

Jakob isn’t really the type of person you would expect to be so innocent and sweet. His expressions and emotions seem limited from the outside, but he’s a pretty complex kid once you get to know him. Sure, he’ll act all tough to make his life look easy, and he’ll get all up in your face if you bother him, but Jakob is one of the sweetest people you can meet. He’s a mother-hen at heart, due to his very protective nature whenever someone he is close to is in danger. Jax, Jakob’s companion pokemon, is the same way, and will go to great lengths to take damage instead of its teammates when in battle.

[/b]: stealing food, training with Jax, roaming Atlantis, going to the beach, playing catch with Jax, sneaking into places where he knows he shouldn’t go, playing little kid games, sleeping on park benches in the middle of the day with Jax curled up on his stomach.

Jax means more to Jakob than anyone else in the world. Jax was there when Jakob was abandoned, and he is there now. To Jakob, there isn’t any pokemon that was as kind and perfect as Jax. Jakob had Jax since it was a baby Eevee, but it evolved to protect Jakob when he was practically thrown onto the streets by his parents. Like Jakob, Jax likes to put the tough-guy act on for those around him, to make him seem a lot stronger than he really is, but his bark is worse than his bite—he may look intimidating and his growl might turn people away, but he’s as sweet as a puppy when he knows a person can be trusted. Both Jakob and Jax have an irrational fear of leaving one another, so they’re especially close, even for companion pokemon/human.

OTHER INFORMATION:

[/s]. Technically he’s not really an orphan, however, his parents told him to stay in the Eastern District while they went south to the Industrial City to find work to keep their family up. Just a few short months later, there was a fire in one of the buildings, and the power went out in Industrial City for a short period of time after that. Jakob lost all contact with them from that point on. It is possible that his parents are still alive, and he’s not an orphan, or they were killed in the fire. Either way, nobody really knows, and Jakob has an intuition that they are really dead, and he and Jax are alone in the world.[/ul]
